COVID-19 Protocols:

A couple of things to put your mind at ease as you start to come back into the classroom setting:

LIFEGUARD COURSES:

Cleaning protocols have been increased
Equipment will be individualized as much as possible (mannequins, AED trainers, etc.)
Due to the nature of the Lifeguarding courses, there will be minimal contact required with other participants.
- For Lifeguard/Lifesaving procedures (Spinals, Unresponsive, etc) we will be using submersible mannequins where possible
- For physical standards required to be done on another person we will be teaching protocols to minimize risk - We will be switching to mannequins as soon as we are on the pool deck
All instructors are trained in updated COVID protocols

FIRST AID COURSES:

You will be set up with your own personal learning station (2m distance from the other stations)
Cleaning protocols have been increased
Equipment will not be shared amongst participants
Any skills involving partner work will be minimized, but when that is not possible, masks and gloves will be required to be worn.

First Aid Instructor FULL Course

Description:

The Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor course is a comprehensive program designed to prepare candidates to teach and evaluate the Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR courses. This course focuses on effective teaching methods, learner-centered instruction, and class management. Through a combination of online learning and in-class instruction, participants develop the necessary skills to deliver engaging and safe first aid instruction. To be eligible, candidates must be at least 18 years old, hold a current Standard First Aid certification, and successfully complete a skills evaluation. Upon successful completion, participants receive First Aid Instructor certification, valid for three years. Certified instructors are then qualified to teach all levels of the Red Cross First Aid and CPR programs.

Recognized Organizations for First Aid pre-requisite include: Canadian Red Cross, Lifesaving Society, Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation, St. John Ambulance, Canadian Ski Patrol

Instructional Hours:

First Aid Instructor Binder (included in the cost of the course)
Pocket Mask (included in the cost of the course)

Certification Duration:

3 years

Recertification:

6 hours

Prerequisites: 18 years of age by the start of the course, Standard/Intermediate First Aid with CPR C from an approved agency (cannot be expired) (see course description)
